We only accept pets who are part of our daycare program into boarding, not only ensuring a stress-free vacation for your BFF, but also because we know the amount of trust it takes to leave your pup behind, and we spend our time going the extra mile to build life-long bonds with you and your pet. We know if you choose us for boarding, your pup will be relaxed because they are with familiar handlers, familiar dogs, in a familiar place. Also, boarding includes daycare, ensuring a continuance of your dog's normal schedule.
As an Enrichment Based daycare facility, our guests have a structured daily routine - focused on the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of each individual dog in our care. Just like children, dogs thrive in environments where they are familiar with the expectations, a normal schedule, given appropriate rest, and the encouragement and reinforcement of good behaviors.
We keep our groups small with an emphasis on regular attendance so that when a pet comes to spend the night with us, they are with familiar handlers, familiar dogs, in a familiar place. We only accept pets who are part of our daycare program as overnight guests to ensure that not only are they stress-free because visiting us is already part of their normal lives, but they also will not stress out the other pets in attendance.
Our boarding program has a limited amount of space dedicated to overnight stays, so that in the unlikely event that a pet is displaying any type of stress or anxiety, our staff is able to take the extra time needed to spend individual time with them. In addition to daycare stimulation, we also introduce auditory enrichment by playing calm, relaxing music that was made specifically for dogs.
We provide daily enrichment for the dogs in a variety of forms. Mental enrichment includes things like practicing good behaviors, teaching basic commands like “sit”, “place”, “stay”, and more, as well as teaching the dogs threshold manners so that the dogs know not to rush open doors. Physical enrichment includes things like appropriate play with their friends, utilizing our play structures and agility equipment, and even fun things like bubbles made for dogs! Lastly, we offer social enrichment which of course includes play with like-sized friends but also, attention and affection from our team of animal lovers. In addition to our daily enrichment that is included in our daycare program, we also have add-ons for overnight stays as well. Pet Parents have the option of adding on extra-curricular activities whether it is a planned seasonal event that we are holding, or enrichment add-ons like lick mats, frozen stuffed kongs, individual play sessions or outdoor walks at a local park. These add-ons are a chance for pet parents to receive extra photos while they are away from their best buddy, and an opportunity for the dog to get individualized one-on-one time with our staff while doing something fun and enriching!
We are proud to cater to each pet’s individual needs and because the pets who stay overnight with us are regular attendees, our staff is very familiar with each of their personalities and quirks and can quickly notice when anything seems out of the ordinary. We keep detailed notes and instructions on each pet in our software, so if they have a specific medical condition that requires a special diet or medication, all of our team will be aware and will be able to fulfill the needs of that individual. We keep two high quality brands of dry dog food, several brands of wet food, and other appetite encouraging add-ins for any picky eaters, but ultimately we always encourage our pet parents to bring what their pet is used to eating at home so that we can keep their normal routine as much as possible. Our facility features a fridge, freezer, and a microwave so no matter if your pet eats dry food, wet food, or even a raw diet - we are able to offer it all.
At Wag Time Pets, we encourage anyone looking to choose a kennel for their pet to first, set up a tour to see the facility for yourself. You’ll have the opportunity to view the dogs in their care and see their demeanors; you’ll get to meet some of the staff that will be caring for your pet(s) and ask as many questions about the daily routine as you can! We also encourage pet parents to bring their dogs in beforehand (several times, the more the better!) so that they can get familiarized with the environment and have the chance to meet the people and pets they will be spending time with while they are away from you. This is definitely important to consider, because on the off chance your pet does not enjoy themselves, you will then be able to continue your search in finding the best possible fit for your BFF.
PRO TIPS:
"We spent a week in Arlington and needed a place for our dog to play... We chose Wag Time Pets after researching daycares and are so pleased we did! They took the time needed for our dog to get comfortable with staff and then introduced him to their Pack little by little. ... Thank y’all for allowing us to enjoy our vacation with the peace of mind knowing our beloved mutt is being very well cared for and having fun, too! "
Because we are primarily an Enrichment-based daycare, we have a limited amount of space for boarding and we do reserve our space for those enrolled in our daycare program. Additionally, we are all about building client relationships and dogs coming in for boarding who are not familiar with us or our routines can disrupt our normal day to day activities, as well as needlessly stress your dog because he is in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people, sights, sounds and smells.
However, we do understand emergencies arise and we will help you if we can. If you find yourself needing boarding but not daycare, feel free to reach out to us and we will help you determine the best course of action for you and for your pet(s). Many times, finding a Pet-Sitter is the best solution and we do have an amazing team of professionals who Pet-Sit for our company. These individuals are bonded and insured, trained and vetted by us to represent our company and maintain our high standards of service.
Our Pet-Sitters are in high demand and have long-term established customer lists. However, if you do find yourself in need of a Pet-Sitter, contact us and we will see if we can find someone trusted for you.
